Team spirit, urgency and passion: managing firefighters

In this new episode of Pieds dans le Plat, Claudio Vandi welcomes Bilel Missaoui, Unit Commander of the Paris Fire Brigade.

They deal with real emergencies every day. They manage hundreds of men and women. What if, even as a start-up, we drew inspiration from firefighter management?

Bilel Missaoui heads up 3 barracks in Paris and has over 200 men and women under his responsibility. So management holds no secrets for him. Especially since, on a day-to-day basis, Bilel has to choose between sending an e-mail or finalizing a customer presentation, and saving the population. So, inevitably, his management of emergencies puts a lot of things into perspective from our point of view.

Bilel's watchwords? Serenity, openness, respect and solidarity. So, as you may have guessed, in this new episode we'll be drawing inspiration from best practices in an entirely different sector - and it's always exciting!

Claudio and Bilel share best practices:

  • How do you identify emergencies and deal with them in a timely manner?
  • How do you manage passionate people (no, it's not easy in all circumstances)?
  • How can you motivate and maintain the morale of your teams?
  • Or how to deal with stress and sometimes complicated interventions?

Enjoy!
